Via Univis with 0 Points.Course Description:
The management training OPEX is based on a computer simulation model. The competing
OPEX enterprises (groups) are working in a supply oligopoly, whereas there is a big number of customers (consumers) of the product (demand polipoly). The OPEX-companies operate on a national market, they produce and sell a single product - a deodorant - demanded by private households. The OPEX-companies have the legal form of a stock company. Since the companies already exist at the beginning of the course, each top management team of the OPEX-companies "enter an ongoing business". The initial situation of every competing company is the same for all management teams. The starting point is prescribed by the financial statements of the firm at the end of quarter (period) "0". The OPEX-company and the OPEX-market are described in the condensed version (17 pages) of the OPEX-manual. It is send to the participants via email. The participants must read the condensed version (17 pages) before the first OPEX-session.Each OPEX-Team (maximum five students) represents the executive board of an OPEX-company, including the executives for the most important functional areas of management:
(1) marketing/sales, (2) purchasing/investment, (3) operations/production, (4) finance, and (5) accounting. Up to ten teams can take part with the OPEX-Game.
Every participant will be assigned to one of the five functional areas. In the first session every participant has to take part in the presentation of her/his functional responsibility. The relevant charts for that presentation are already prepared and will be sent to the participants via email, too.
The participants have to attend every OPEX-session.Further information on http://extrw.univie.ac.at
