This seminar is a blocked course.

Students not attending the first class meeting (in which also a lot of organizational issues will be announced and discussed) will automatically be de-registered from the course.

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The seminar will provide a brief introduction to the economics of religion and reviews current research in the field of "religion and economic behavior." For this purpose, participants will study, analyze, present and discuss various articles that have a theoretical, empirical or experimental focus. By doing so, participants will gain insights into various topics in the field of religion and economic behavior and learn to critically discuss and asses these scientific contributions.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

To complete the seminar the following activities are mandatory:

* Presentation of up to two papers in class
* Brief comments on a third paper during class
* A seminar paper on a fourth paper
* Active participation and discussion during class meetings

The exact weights of these activities for the composition of the final grade will be announced during the first class meeting.
