Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The aim of this course is to present and discuss critically with peers substantial aspects of the master thesis. Both aspects, presentation of own research as well as discussion of research of others and constructive comments to the peers are central elements of this course.

This seminar is intended for students conducting a thesis in the area of Banking & Finance.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

This course will be assessed upon the presentation (50%) and the quality of discussion (50%).

Passing requires both a satisfying presentation AND active contributions in discussions of the work of others. Cameras need to be activated during Zoom sessions.

Moreover, it is mandatory to upload a preliminary set of slides (at least) one week prior to the presentation. The slides can still be adjusted until presentation. The early availability provides peers a chance to acquoaint themselves with the thesis topic and prepare their discussion accordingly. Slides and communication with the peers will be part of the grade.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Participation is restricted to students registered for a master thesis. The approval of the thesis topic by the SSC needs to be documented.

Successful completion of modul A1 is required as specified in the Curriculum.

The master thesis has to be officially registered and to be completed by about 2/3.

Regular attendance at all presentations is mandatory.

A positive grade requires both a presentation of at least passing quality as well as participation of at least passing quality.

course grade = max(presentation grade, contribution grade)

example 1: presentation grade = 1, contribution grade = 3 implies a course grade of 3
