Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The Master Thesis Seminar introduces students into the basics to scientific communication. Students should learn both, presenting their own work to an interested audience as well as providing constructive feedback to the work of others.

This seminar is primarily intended for students conducting a master thesis in the area of Banking & Finance.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

This course will be assessed upon the presentation (50%) and the quality of discussion (50%).

Passing requires both a satisfying presentation AND active contributions in discussions of the work of others.

Moreover, it is mandatory to upload a preliminary set of slides (at least) one week prior to the presentation. The slides can still be adjusted until presentation. The early availability provides peers a chance to acquaint themselves with the thesis topic and prepare their discussion accordingly. Slides and communication with the peers will be part of the grade.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Participation is restricted to students registered for a master thesis. The approval of the thesis topic by the SSC needs to be documented.

Successful completion of modul A1 is required as specified in the Curriculum.

Students of the Master's programmes in Business Administration or International Business Administration only will be registered for the Master´s Thesis Seminar if they passed the VO Basics of Finance (MA).

The master thesis has to be officially registered and to be completed by about 2/3.

Regular attendance at all presentations is mandatory.

A positive grade requires both a presentation of at least passing quality as well as participation of at least passing quality.

Grading scheme:
course grade = max(presentation grade, contribution grade)
example 1: presentation grade = 1, contribution grade = 3 implies a course grade of 3
ecample 2: presentation grade = 2, contribution grade = 2 implies a course grade of 2
