Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The topic of this University course (UK) is the historical background of business enterprises and their interaction with political and social developments. It covers the time period 19th century until today, focussing on Europe and the USA. The intention is to show the complexity of business in all sectors of the economy, of decision making, change of organisation, market developments and the impact of innovations in business administration and technology. It should also lead to a better understanding of political and social implications of business policy.

Prüfungsstoff
The course is divided into two parts:
The first part is a lecture of various topics (sectorial specifics of business organization, technology, finance and capital, the role of the state). Due to the large number of participants, this lecture is provided both in the classroom and on the internet.Second, every participant has to produce a paper or give a talk on one case. Again, due to the number of participants, not everybody can give an oral presentation in the classroom. Participants can choose between:
- written paper (4,000 words)
- oral presentation in the classroom
- video presentation on the internet
A list of topics, and general requirements will be provided in time. Details will be agreed upon in direct contact.
