Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
Although the importance of Second Temple Jewish literature for the understanding of Early Christianity has been much researched, it was hardly asked in how far early Christian literature helps to better understand the literature, history, culture, and religion of Second Temple Judaism. The lecture series will address this gap. In two blocked units, N. David, K. Davidowicz, E. Füzessy, A. Lange, G. Langer, H. Lichtenberger, U. Mittmann, W. Pratscher, L. H. Schiffman, G. Stemberger, and M. Weigold will address such diverse issues as Halakhah, Synagogues, Festivals and Liturgy, Canonical and Textual History, Messianism, Magic, and Antisemitism in light of early Christian literature. For a detailed program of the lecture series see the webpage of the Institute for Jewish studies.
