Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course corresponds to 5 ECTS and is part of the DH master module “theory and practice of DH”. It accompanies the introductory DH lecture course (lecture series) and is aimed at enabling students to search, read and use DH literature.-- The course has three goals: (a) to provide students with a portfolio of basic readings at the intersection between traditional humanist methodologies, and computational humanities; (b) to further elaborate on the topics treated in the lecture course; and (c) to discuss the techniques and methods of retrieving, evaluating and working with DH-related bibliography. The course will be held in English, but students can also choose to work with German texts. The course starts with a detailed introduction to its rationale and requirements. After that, three blocks (of c. four weeks each) will be dedicated to the individual course goals.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

During the semester students will have to submit at least four written assignments (mostly summaries of texts). These (70%) together with the active participation (30%) will constitute the final grade.
