Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This class will provide a thematic introduction into approaches to and topics of Global and World History. It consists of an introductory part (3 units) and a series of single lectures on specific topics/approaches. Every unit is supported by selected literature samples (texts will be available on moodle). After the initial introductory units on concepts and schools of Global and World History, a selection of Global History concepts, approaches and topics will be discussed.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Written examination (26.1.2017). Participation in the discussion of the lecture and the reading materials provided for each unit will also be taken into consideration.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Students demonstrate in written examination their familiarity with the contents presented in the lecture as well as entailed in the literature provided and show their ability to apply this knowledge discussing more open questions in the examination. There will be an extra-requirement for those students who need to earn 5 ECTS for this class (additional essay).

Prüfungsstoff

Presentations of the lectures plus required reading.
