Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course will introduce students to central topics and historiographical debates related to Modern History (Neuzeit, ca. 1500 to ca. 1914), focusing on various aspects and regions, such as periodization, confessionalization, state formation, political changes, cultural transformations, and globalization. We will discuss book chapters, research articles, and primary sources, considering a broad range of perspectives, including political, social, cultural, and gender history.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Students will be assessed based on short written assignments, a presentation, and their contribution to discussions.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

- Short summaries of the literature with main questions or theses for at least 7 sessions (65% of the final grade).
- One oral presentation (20% of the final grade).
- Active participation in discussions (15% of the final grade).
- Regular attendance (students may miss up to two classes).

100% - 87%: 1
86.99% - 75%: 2
74.99% - 63%: 3
62.99% - 50%: 4
49.99% - 0%: 5
