Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course offers an introduction to the basics of the historiography of global history. It is organised as a lecture series with changing lecturers. They will offer specialised insights into major time periods and world regions and give insights into theoretical debates in global history. Thus the lecturers will represent a variety of approaches to the field of 'global history'. The lectures series introduces the participants into concepts of universal "Enlightment" history, gender, Marxism, world-system analysis, memory and life stories as well as to recent debates on migration and Eurocentrism. It furthermore gives two concrete examples of ‘applied global history.’

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Final written exam.
The exam questions are based on the conent of the lectures and the compulsory reading
of the course.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Prüfungsstoff

The classes are arranged as lecture series. Students' participation in discussions after the lectures is most welcome.
