Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course is part of the DH master module “Specialization in Clusters of DH”. Its aim is to integrate traditional intellectual history and methods of computational analysis, while at the same time broaching the issue of the fast-changing landscape of DH tools and methods: What is the state of the art of DH-oriented research on the "Republic of Letters" - imagined community of pre-modern intellectuals and alleged spearhead in the establishment of Western Values? In finding out together, we'll thoroughly explore all angles of the "big tent" of DH.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

During the course, you will have to work on specific assignments (text summaries, data preparation … 40%), and you will also create your own project, based on a specific text/corpus of your choice (40%). Your active participation in class will be considered as well (20%).
