The role of the state in economic development in the early modern era

General introduction

2/3 The ideas about the role of the state in economic development of some influential economists

4) The history of state formation in Europe in the early modern era

5) Mercantilism and its opponents

8/9) States and state-formation outside Europe. Clichees and realities

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

The grade will be based on participation, presentation and paper: 25/ 25 and 50 percent

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

To analyse scholarly texts, to give presentations about a specific topic from the course content and to write a paper on a selected topic

Prüfungsstoff

This is a course: active participation is required, plus one oral presentation and a final paper will have to be written
