Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Since the Second World War International Courts (Permanent Court of Arbitration, International Court of Justice, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, etc.) have dealt with a number of cases concerning maritime borders. The research seminar will have a close look at these cases from a historical point of view.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Students have to write a research paper, present this work at the “final congress” (24.01. and 25.01.2025) and must actively participate in all discussions.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Students must attend all classes (08.10.2024, 05.11.2024; 03.12.2024, 07.01.2025, 24.01. and 25.01.2025). In addition, they must write a scientific paper (with scientific notes, 70,000 characters - including spaces - and an abstract) and present the first version of this paper at the “final congress”. The final paper, which will be graded, must be submitted by March 15, 2025 at the latest.

Prüfungsstoff

Guided research, discussion, scientific criticism, writing and presenting the research paper.
