Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course offers an introduction into the basics of the historiography of global history. Starting with the "enlightened" idea of an Universal History in the 18th century, we will give a review on historic materialism, positivism, the impact of social sciences in history after 1945, theories on imperialism, the world-system approach and the recent debates on post-colonialism.
Ad Didaktik/course didactics: Student's participation in the discussion is expected. Additional guest lecturers will contribute with specific approaches of major world regions to global historiography.
