We will consider these language productions from a number of (mostly qualitative) research approaches and methods, including diverse types of discourse analysis, genre analysis, and frameworks related to language descriptions of learners, such as CAF (Complexity-Accuracy-Fluency), critically discussing also Error Analysis.
We will also address means of incorporating the learner in research designs focused on the language products created, such as interviews, questionnaires and observations. Some general issues of conducting research within an educational framework will be address, including research ethics, researcher bias, research politics.(Note that this is course is the ‘general’ seminar in the MEd and NOT about providing specific support for your MEd theses. This is addressed in the MA thesis seminar)
