Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This lecture course aims at helping students become competent readers. Providing participants with a critical toolkit, the course will enable participants to understand and apply some of the basic concepts of literary criticism.

This lecture course will
- provide an introduction to some basic issues of literary studies, such as text analysis, interpretation and literary theory;
- make students familiar with the terminology and practice of literary criticism;
- provide a survey of the major literary genres and the special methodological challenges relating to them.

Information will be provided through lectures (incl. ppp), material provided on moodle, Q&A-sessions, online self-tests.

Written final exam (on site, multiple-choice format, 40 questions, 60 minutes; sample questions provided on moodle; Hilfsmittel/use of study aids not permitted)
