Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course provides a theoretical and practical toolkit for students embarking on the writing of an M.A.-thesis in literary and cultural studies. The emphasis is not so much on the what but on the how of a research project, that is on the whole process of planning, organising, and carrying it out. Topics covered include, among others, the stages of the research process, research methodologies and critical approaches, information research and the use of databases, formal aspects of a research paper.

Please note: Students will be asked to prepare two texts from the reader (available at the beginning of October) for the first session. You will receive detailed information via email after the official registration.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The course prepares graduate students for the undertaking of an extensive research project such as the writing of an M.A. thesis.
