Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This AR will focus on five contemporary South African trauma novels.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Class participation, oral presentation, essay (10-12 pages), or final written test.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The students are acquainted with modern trauma theory and related concepts and discover how these may be applied to the analysis of the contemporary South African novel. They will discuss the role of memory and narrative with regard to South Africa's attempts to come to terms with the past.

Prüfungsstoff

Oral presentations in class followed by discussions.
