- describe the background / context of their chosen pieces
- explain how these pieces illustrate their own development as writers
- provide an analysis of their strengths and weaknesses as writers
- show how the pieces provide evidence to substantiate the claims made about students' writing
- demonstrate an ability to analyse textsFollowing submission of the portfolio, students will participate in a viva (oral assessment) of approximately 15 minutes, which consists of 2 parts.
- In part one, students deliver a well-structured five-minute presentation of their portfolio, in which they justify the choice of texts and explain how they reflect their development as a writer.
- In part two, the raters ask questions relating to the presentation and the portfolio. The students respond by defending their decisions and elaborate on the points raised.
