Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course surveys approaches to Language Awareness or Knowledge about Language. We review a range of conceptual and empirical issues with respect to Language Awareness and the relevance of the concept for language learning, education and use. During the semester, students will build on this knowledge to develop a research project which examines a specific research question with respect to LA. This leads to a seminar / BA paper.

Aims:
Students will:
• be acquainted with concepts language awareness (LA) and knowledge about language (KAL);
• be able to reflect critically on these notions and empirical work carried out within the frameworks;
• be able to draw on theoretical and empirical research to develop syntheses;
• be able to develop and address research questions on cross-linguistic influence based on sound theoretical and empirical knowledge.
