Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The aim of the seminar is for students to get to know ways of analysing picturebooks, especially as concerns the construction of meaning via images, verbal text and design. We will read and discuss current picturebook theories and multimodal methodologies and apply both to a wide range of contemporary picturebooks for readers of all ages. Techniques such as anthropomorphisation or ecocriticism will be in the foreground as will the question of representational politics. Students will be assisted in developing a research question and writing a seminar (or bachelor) paper, to be submitted at the end of term.
