Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course is intended to provide a forum for students working on a diploma thesis or a doctoral dissertation (or planning to do so in the near future). Participants will have the opportunity to present their research projects and discuss problems arising from them, problems which we will attempt to solve in class. We will also consider aspects of literary theory and methodology as well as such practical issues as evaluating findings and structuring theses. For those who are interested and would like to volunteer mock (diploma) exams could be organized.

Oral presentation, active participation.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Guiding students in the last phase of their studies and helping them to prepare for the final examinations.
Prüfungsstoff
Oral presentations; all-class discussion of selected topics from literary theory/cultural studies; mock examinations (voluntary).
Literatur
Selected chapters from literary theory and texts that will be provided on an ad-hoc basis.

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This is an informal seminar for students who are working on their Diploma thesis, MA thesis or PhD, or are planning to do so. The class will give students the opportunity to introduce their projects, discuss the progress of their work and address possible problems arising from their research.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
class participation, project presentation; response paper on selected readings (to be provided in class), oral exam based on the readings of the response paper - MA students and new PhD students only.
Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
The aim of the course is twofold: first, to get to know the projects of fellow students and second, to acquire and consolidate the study skills necessary when working on a diploma or PhD thesis.
Prüfungsstoff
All-class discussions of project presentations, project presentation.
Literatur
List of readings will be provided depending on your research projects - MA students and new PhD students only.
