This course aims at providing students with the background knowledge and basic skills required to critically analyse existing language teaching materials, as well as to modify and develop their own activities in accordance with competence-oriented criteria and target group needs.The focus will be on the following areas:
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
- English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
- Extensive reading
- New media
Throughout the course, we will discuss relevant background reading, explore various (schoolbook) materials and activities, and integrate pertinent national and European documents (e.g. national curricula, the CEFR, the ELP), relating them to specific English language teaching contexts.Methods:
A mixture of methods will be employed, including- individual and group activities in and outside of class time,- discussions in class,- short presentations by the lecturer.
