Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

How has the forest inspired the literary and folkloric imagination of the last centuries? Going through arboreal and sylvanian fantasies we will explore the symbolic, psychological and historical dimensions of woods and forests. What does the forest signify in different contexts? Who lives in the forest and why? How do we experience the forest? Using examples from bucolic literature, folklore and fairy tales to fantasy and science fiction, we will explore the power forests and trees have over our lives and our thinking.

In the oral presentation, students will introduce and analyse a topic related to the assigned texts. They will develop teaching skills by elaborating the topic in a mini-lesson where they involve their colleagues interactively.

Detailed information will be given in class.
