Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
In this class, we will discuss general principles of reading and storytelling by examining a wide range of texts and their respective uses in the EFL classroom. A special focus will be on visual literacy teaching, exploiting media like video, film and other visual narratives as both stimulating input and potential means of expression in a foreign language learning environment. Discussions of controversial issues entailed in these topics will be encouraged. You will also have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers and try out your own activities in schools.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
You are required to hand in a complete portfolio at the end of the course (more information in first session) and to participate actively during discussion and reflection phases in class. You will also read a Young Adult Novel and present it to your colleagues in a video recording, and teach a lesson / unit in an AHS/BHS/NMS classroom that relates to literature and/or cultural context(s), all of which are essential parts of your final portfolio.
