Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This class aims at providing both a theoretical basis for the teaching of literature in the EFL classroom and practical examples. The primary aim is to enable students to devise lesson plans and teaching activities which help improve their future learners' skills and capture their interest.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Assessment will be based on a course portfolio and participation in class.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Participation is mandatory, 2 absences will be accepted

Regular attendance, portfolio activities assessment based on whether activities and arguments are pedagogically convincing and how ideas from the course are implemented in actual tasks; reading assignments; participation in class; practical teaching experience & reflection; class readers

85% portfolio

15% participation

Prüfungsstoff

practical implementation of and reflection on working with literature and culture in the EFL classroom; special focus on YAN, song lyrics/poetry, film/TV...

Literatur

weekly reading assignments will be provided + class reader "Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe" (Sáenz) + a YAN (student's choice)
