Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
By the end of this course, students will have a detailed overview of theoretical and practical issues surrounding the teaching of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). We will address all aspects of ESP teaching methodology (approach, design, procedure) and the linguistic analyses underlying and relevant to the teaching of ESP (in particular with regard to materials analysis and development). Specific attention will be given to the role of genre and genre-based teaching in ESP, as well as to digital media (including VR) in ESP.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
1) Online activities and in-class participation (25% of overall mark)
2) ESP teaching activities (depending on Covid regulations, these might take the form of at school placements or micro-teaching), including materials development (25%, in pairs if possible)
3) Academic paper (45%), including an empirical analysis of pedagogic or linguistic aspects of ESP teaching. Length: 3,000 words.

A maximum of 100 can be achieved. All individual components have to be passed.
