127010 KO Critical Readings in Literature (2016S)

In this course, we will discuss selections from British literature across the centuries, focusing on genre not just as an aesthetic framework but also as a power discourse that “contribute[s] to the social structuring of meaning” (Frow 1). Working with a wide range of theoretical approaches, participants will hone their skills in the critical analysis and interpretation of poetry, drama, narrative fiction and non-fiction, and will deepen their knowledge of concepts and terminology central to the study of literary texts.
