Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course builds on the knowledge students gained in the introductory lectures. Students taking this course are supposed to be familiar with the basics of literary analysis (narrative techniques, genre, point of view, etc.). However, students will receive a script in the first session to brush up their knowledge. We will discuss one (or more) literary texts from different genres and periods every week. By means of discussion question, which students are supposed to prepare for each sessions, we are going to approach these texts from various critical angles.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Active class participation, oral presentation in groups, portfolio to be submitted at the end of January (this deadline applies to those students who need their grade before the next registration period begins). Students who do not need their grade urgently, can hand in the portfolio sometime in February (date will be specified in the first session of the course).

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Students will be assessed on the basis of a point-based system. Students have to score at least 60 points to pass the course.

Oral presentation: 25 points
Active class participation: 30 points
Portfolio: 45 points

All of these three course requirements (oral presentation, participation, portfolio) need to be fulfilled! If you do not participate at all, do not hand in the portfolio or do not show up for your oral presentation, this equals a dropping out of the course and will be assessed with a negative grade!

You can miss two sessions.

Prüfungsstoff
