Australian Culture: Fiction and Film

The aim of this lecture course is to provide an overview of important themes and aesthetic traditions in Australian literature and culture. It will begin with a historical description of the origins of Australia as a settler colony and comment on the controversial views on the interactions between the white settlers and the Aboriginal people (the original owners of the land).
