Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course provides an introduction to the currently most important research methods in linguistics. Specifically, the course covers methods of data collection (such as recording, elicitation, questionnaires, interviews) and data analysis (such as working with language corpora, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, statistics).

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The course grade is based on
* grades on topic assignments and in-class/online participation (50%)
* grades on two long final tasks (50%)

The minimum requirements for passing this course are:
(a) regular class attendance (max. 2 absences)
(b) handing in topic assignments (on time)
(c) handing in final tasks (on time)
(d) attaining a pass grade on more than half of all topic assignments and on at least one final task
