Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

An introduction to the most important authors and developments of Swedish minority literature in Finland in the 19th and 20th centuries, with an emphasis on the relation of Finland-Swedish literature to the developments within literary tradition, language situation and society in Finland.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

As a part of the course the students take part in a one-day seminar in which the candidates of the Nordic Council literary prize 2014 are presented. At the end of the course an examination takes place. Also the activity in the discussions during the lessons counts.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The student has an overview of the most important authors and developments of Swedish literature, and is able to identify central features of literary texts and to analyse them in relation to literary and social changes taking place in Finnish society.

Prüfungsstoff

Lectures, textanalysis and discussions.

Literatur

Finland-Swedish literature in German translations. A list of the reading will be given at the first meeting of the course
