Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course is designed in the form of a clinical exercise to prepare the students to the practical non-academic challenges of a typical development-related work environment. Nowadays, development interventions are operated via 'projects' both, in the so-called public, governmental (or intergovernmental) as well as in the nonprofit, voluntary, NGOs sector. Thus, it is of paramount usefulness for an aspiring development professional to learn about the techniques of the 'identification', 'formulation', 'implementation and monitoring' of a 'Development Project', which is vastly different from regular project management (e.g. commercial, engineering, IT). With the recognition and practice of 'Social Responsibility' getting widespread, new intervention approaches in international development have emerged in the private business sector as well, giving rise to 'CSR-schemes', 'Social Entreprises', 'Social Capital Ventures' and ' Corporate Sustainability Management'. As a matter of capacity building, development professionals are confronted with a new area in of their competece and stewardship.
