Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course aims to introduce students to Nepali travelogues. We will explore selected travel writings by Nepali authors, focusing on their experiences traveling abroad, particularly in Europe. The readings will span from the twentieth century to the present. Class meetings will include formal lectures, close reading, presentations, and discussions. The selected texts will be analyzed in class through translation, interpretation, and discussions addressing any grammatical issues that may arise. Active engagement with weekly readings is essential for meaningful participation in discussions. Regular attendance, preparation of the reading text, and a strong command of Nepali are required for success in this course.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
The course evaluation at the end of the semester will be based on the following criteria:Oral proficiency – Assessed through class participation, performance, text analysis, interpretation, translation, and presentations (40%).
Written proficiency – Evaluated through homework assignments and written essays (30%).
Final assessment – Based on the final essay and regular attendance (30%).

A student must meet the following requirements:Maintain at least 80% attendance.
Submit all homework assignments.
Prepare reading texts and vocabulary for assigned materials.
Actively participate in class discussions.
Submit a final essay (minimum 2000 words in Nepali) on the given topic by July 15th.
