Attendance is mandatory (80%), which means you may miss at most 2 of the 12 units. Tardiness may be counted as absence at the discretion of the lecturer. You should budget about 10h/week of additional study time.
The lessons will require preparation and active participation, there'll be regular homework -- to be submitted on time -- and multiple tests / assignments. Details will be announced in the first unit.

At the end of this course students should be able to
* understand spoken Standard Japanese as used in certain everyday situations;
* (re)act and communicate appropriately in these same situations;
* read certain domain-specific Japanese, e. g. basic signage.

Prüfungsstoff
Based on the knowledge acquired in Japanese Grammar I students will be provided with a variety of opportunities to put it into practice, guided by a native speaker. Exercises in class might include dictation, listening comprehension and simulated dialogues, homework might consist of multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blanks and/or short essay assignments.
