Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This course will address and analyze the state of development of various forms of mass media, including the print media, broadcasting media and internet in the context of political control and legal regulations. Through the lens of the media development, this course intends to offer an understanding of the change of landscape of contemporary Chinese politics, law and society since 1949. The general themes that will be covered through the course include 1) print media and censorship in China, 2) Investigative journalism and foreign news media, 4) broadcasting media in China, in particular television programming 5) independent films and documentaries. The literature that will be used to assist you with the course include a rich combination of studies conducted under a wide range of disciplines, such as political science, sociology and film and media studies. THE COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH.
