Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Students will acquire the most important basics of Welsh grammar and a range of vocabulary, which enables them to participate in everyday, simple and short conversations; they will be able to interpret simple Welsh texts with the help of appropriate resources. No previous knowledge is necessary for this course. A knowledge/interest in languages and linguistics is helpful.
Although a lecture, participation, exchange of knowledge etc. is welcome. Materials from various books and my own materials will be used and will form the basis for the examinations.
Materials will be made available through Moodle

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Ongoing assessment will be used during the duration of the course.
Participation in two short written exam to show understanding of the Welsh language and grammar.
Completion and understanding of the weekly homework.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Participation in most lessons is required to make a positive assessment.
During the written exams the students will be graded with a 1 ( over 75% ) 2 ( over 60%) 3 ( over 50%) 4 ( over 40%)
Completion and understanding of the weekly homework ( graded as above)

Prüfungsstoff

The first written exam will be based on the grammar taught in the first half of the term.
While the second exam will be based on the final part of the course.

Optional Grammar : Welsh Grammar you really need to know by Christine Jones.
Online : Glosbe or Google translate ( caution with Google translate - can be excellent or poor translation)
