Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

After introducing the pecularities of the Albanian clause structure, special attention will be paid to the structure of wh-constructions and restrictive relative clauses, clitic constructions, the syntax of nominal constituents, and argument realization.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the syntax of Albanian, a relatively under-researched language within the generative paradigm. With its rich morphology, Albanian is an excellent testbed especially for the study of the nature of the interfaces of grammar.

Prüfungsstoff

The course is theoretically underpinned in generative grammar, specifically the Principles and Parameters framework. Therefore, students participating in this course must have attended "Einführung in die spezielle Grammatiktheorie". Exchange students must have attended an equivalent course (introduction to the theory of grammar, or introduction to syntax). To obtain a certificate, students must sit an exam (oral or written).
