Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
David Hume’s Moral and Political philosophy have been the focus of renewed interest in the last couple of decades. A number of current debates in the relevant fields of current research centrally revolve around the interpretation of Hume’s position on human motivation. In this course, we focus on Hume’s view of the passions in part II of the Treatise, and on part III of the Treatise. This reading will be complemented with a selection from Hume’s Enquiries, his Essays, as well as with current contributions to Hume scholarship.
