    Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course introduces students to central questions in the philosophy of mind. We will think about what makes the mind special, whether we can know what it's like to be a bat, whether science can explain what pain is, how we can thoughts about things outside of our heads, and whether your phone is part of your mind.

The course will be interactive. Each week will require close reading of and thinking about an original article, which we will then discuss in class.

To prepare for discussions, there will be weekly written assignments. Those will be a mix of reading questions and writing assignments. Their aim is both to help guide reading as well as hone philosophical writing skills. Students will be required to upload those in advance of the class.
