Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

ISGinnovations GmbH (ISGi) and the Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (OFAI) are jointly looking for interested students to conduct research in the area of serious games in health care. Candidates will gain a broad overview of the state of the art in serious games research before focusing on a specific research topic. Students will familiarise with the many perspectives and steps required in implementing a serious games project from a first idea to a full concept that is scientifically sound, features interesting game mechanics, and is viable for practical deployment.

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

* Continuous evaluation (periodical review at jour fixes; see methods)
* Final overall evaluation and review of the project experience

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

* Knowledge of the research area of serious games
* Familiarity with methodological requirements in a serious games project
* Theoretical and practical skills relevant for serious game design and prototyping
* Result-oriented interdisciplinary thinking
* Co-authoring of publication(s) to be presented at a topical workshop or similar venue is encouraged

Prüfungsstoff

* Active and continuous participation in group work
* Desktop research on specific tasks, discussion of results and their significance
* Weekly jour fixes
* Communication and documentation through online platform
