Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This course will discuss approaches to human nature proposed by major historical philosophical figures and how these views are received in contemporary philosophical discussion. An overarching theme of this course will be an exploration of the extent to which philosophers' answers to key moral questions are affected by their conception of human nature. We will cover, inter alia, Aristotle, Hobbes, and Hume along with Rosalind Hursthouse, Christine Korsgaard, David Gauthier, Susan Moller Okin, John Rawls and Jesse Prinz.
