Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

Why do certain scientific fields see better representation of women while others don't? Do beliefs about gender shape what we consider scientific knowledge? How does gender influence the methods and standards of science and education? This course will lead to a scientific journey delving into social science theories concerning how education intersects with gender dynamics, hierarchy, and power structures. They will examine research on the experiences of people worldwide, especially within educational settings, to understand their roles in different societal sectors. Through projects, participants will improve their research abilities by crafting research proposals and eventually papers focused on gender and education from a global or comparative viewpoint. This course will also benefit from gender, science, and education in the works of art namely; literature, cinema, and popular culture.
