Prüfungsstoff

Before each course (except the first), students are required to read carefully a few designated chapters of the book titled "The Student’s Guide to Cognitive Neuroscience" 2nd Edition by Jamie Ward. Materials are provided.

An online forum is made available to the students to ask and answer questions about the chapters to read. The students are encouraged to answer others' questions. The teacher will be present as well to clarify certain aspects of the book. All students will be required to join on an online forum to ask at least one question about each chapter (at least 16 questions in total for the semester) before the day of the course covering that chapter (2 chapters covered = 2 questions to ask). In addition, each student will be required to answer or discuss one question asked by another student about each chapter before the day of the course covering that chapter (at least 16 answers/discussions in total).

Before the day of the course, students have to complete an online test with multiple choice questions that cover the designated chapters of the course. The test can be completed with the book but there is a time limit. Hence, a careful read of the chapter is necessary in order to properly complete the online test.

The course will begin with a review of the questions of the online test. The students will be collectively invited to discuss on what could be the right answer and to elaborate on it when possible. During this period, students can ask questions about the chapters they had to read. This period is especially intended to clarify aspects that were not clear in the book.

For the second part of the course, a few designated students will each make a 5-10 minutes long presentation about an article related to one of the chapters covered that week. This presentation is especially intended to create discussions with the other students. Therefore, the presentation does not have to be a summary of all aspects of the article; only the most relevant information can be presented. The presentation must invite the other students to talk about cognitive neuroscience, by asking them questions, creating a debate, a game, etc.
