Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

- Learning presentation techniques such as speaking, rhetoric, and body language, presentation preparation and development of arguments (with the aim of effective placement and communication of key messages and scientific findings)
- Learning moderation techniques such as conducting a discussion or a debate from a neutral position, assisting communication and problem solving in a group discussion and facilitating development of arguments (with the aim of helping the participants to reach a consensus and communicate key messages)
- Learning how to give and receive feedback, and how to ask and to respond to questions effectively (with the aim of improving personal presentation style)

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Active participation:
- Attendance (maximum absence limit: 3 teaching units)
- Participation in discussions & exercises

Individual contribution:
- Preparation and presentation of a chosen scientific study/topic
or preparation and presentation of a case in a debate
- Moderating a panel discussion or judging a debate
- Giving and receiving peer-feedback and topic-related questions

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

- Participation in exercises, discussions, feedback and questions rounds (50%)
- Individual presentation (25%)
- Individual moderation (25%)

60% are required for a positive assessment of the course.
1 (very good) 90-100%
2 (good) 81-89%
3 (satisfactory) 71-80%
4 (sufficient) 60-70%
5 (not sufficient) 0-59%
