Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
The current course is designed to help students understand implications of Social Cognition theories and broaden knowledge on research findings in the relevant topics. In the past few decades, Social Cognition researchers have made a major breakthrough enriching the fields of Social and Cognitive Psychology. In the current course, students will read and discuss research papers ranging from classic milestone papers to recent findings in Social Cognition. Each class begins with a summary lecture of the topic followed by discussions on the research papers assigned for each seminar.Students are expected to write a research proposal on a chosen topic. The proposal must be comprised of a line of studies investigating a research question. The final research proposal will help guide students who plan to pursue conducting studies on the relevant topic of their choice.
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Research proposal (50%): A 2,000- 2,500-word complete research proposal including theoretical background, research question, hypotheses, and methods must be submitted at the end of the course.
Paper presentation (20%): Each student will give a 10-15-minute presentation on a specific question raised in a research paper of their choice
Proposal presentation (15%): Towards the end of the semester, each student will give a 5 minute blitz presentation on their research proposal

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab
Basic knowledge of Social Psychology and Cognitive Psychology: Prior to the seminar, students must have taken introductory courses related to Social Psychology and Cognitive Psychology.
Prüfungsstoff
After the first class, students are expected to choose one topic in Social Cognition for their research proposal.
