Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This seminar is a combination of attending a weekly seminar in the form of a Journal Club (Fridays 9.45am to 11.15am) and a series of Colloquia (Thursdays 5pm to 6.30pm).The Journal Club involves reading, presenting, and discussing relevant papers or book chapters in Cognitive Sciences.The Colloquium provides the opportunity to engage with current research in the domain of General, Cognitive and Biological Psychology, as presented by renowned researchers.Aims are a) to see the “big picture” in Cognitive Science, as presented in contributions and b) to foster critical thinking when reading or listening to contributions to Cognitive Sciences.Course language: English
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
Assessment is based on participation and contributions to the discussion in class and online. In each unit a specific contribution will be discussed. In the beginning of the session students will present the assigned reading in short and should raise important questions pertaining to the topic. These will then be discussed in the remainder of the unit.Furthermore, at the end of the term we request a mandatory written feedback about the seminar and the colloquia (2 pages).Please note that attendance to sessions of the journal club AND the colloquium is mandatory! A maximum of 4 missed sessions is allowed (in total).

Grading is based on the following:
a) Active participation --> 40%
b) Presentation of the paper and discussion --> 40%
