Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

This seminar is a combination of attending a weekly Journal Club (Tuesdays 9.45am to 11.15am) and a series of Colloquia (Thursdays 5pm to 6:30pm).
The Journal Club involves reading and joint commenting on relevant papers or book chapters in Cognitive Sciences.
The Colloquium provides the opportunity to engage with current research in the domain of General, Cognitive and Biological Psychology, as presented by renowned researchers.
Aim is to foster critical thinking when reading or listening to contributions to Cognitive Sciences. Language of course: English

Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel

Assessment is based on participation and contributions to the discussion in class. In each unit a specific paper will be discussed. In the beginning of the session students will present the paper in detail and should raise important questions pertaining to the topic. These will then be discussed in the remainder of the unit.
Furthermore, at the end of the term a written feedback about the seminar and the colloquia is mandatory (2 pages).
Please note that attendance to sessions of the journal club AND the colloquium are mandatory!

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Grading is based on the following:
a) Active participation --> 40%
b) Presentation of the paper and discussion --> 40%
c) Written Feedback --> 20%
