Information
Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung
This seminar is designed to provide an overview about current topics in Environmental Psychology (see our group's web-page for an overview of topics and projects: https://env-psy.univie.ac.at/)
Art der Leistungskontrolle und erlaubte Hilfsmittel
There are two elements and students can select topics of interest. Element 1: They will be expected to design a session to introduce the current state of research for their topic, combining presentation and interactive elements, under guidance from the seminar lead.
Element 2: Essay.Additional detail (9/9/21):
For the *presentation*, students are asked to prepare a session of 30 minutes (slides + interactive exercise). They can choose their own focus for the presentation from three aspects:
a) a specific theory relevant to environmental psychology (e.g., Construal level theory, Schwartz' value theory, Value-belief-norm theory, attention restoration theory),
b) a specific topic (e.g., plastic pollution, energy saving, sustainable mobility, intergenerational transfer, nature and well-being, climate anxiety, climate activism, Environmental Psychology in the Global South), or
c) method or technology )e.g., virtual reality, environmental neuroscience, persuasive technology.
More explanation and a list will be provided at the start of the seminar.
For the *essay*, the chosen focus will be the same as the focus of the presentation, the title being "Critically evaluate the current state of research on [focus]"

A list of suggested articles will be provided in the first session, but I am open to additional interests and suggestions.
As a starting point, feel free to take a look at the two key journals in this area, namely the Journal of Environmental Psychology (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/journal-of-environmental-psychology) and Environment & Behavior (https://journals.sagepub.com/loi/EAB)
Also check out current research and publications here: https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/staff/sabine-pahl (sorry, new Vienna web-site in progress right now)
