Information

Ziele, Inhalte und Methode der Lehrveranstaltung

The course will be held in English.

[AIMS:]
The course teaches the theoretical background and practical steps necessary to perform and interpret functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data analysis. Aimed at students that plan or already started a master- or doctoral thesis using fMRI.

[CONTENT:]
We will analyze fMRI data of two different studies with SPM (https://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/), using common activation-based analysis techniques, as well as brain connectivity methods. Students are asked to orally present 1) one fMRI paper, 2) the completed fMRI project. Short tests about recent content will be scheduled throughout the semester.

[METHODS:]
Oral presentations by lecturer and students, in-class participation, homework, oral presentations of fMRI projects, brief exams, excursion to the fMRI scanner of the faculty.

[GENERAL INFO:]

The final grade considers in-class participation, homeworks, oral presentations, and written exams. Further details will be discussed in the course.

Mindestanforderungen und Beurteilungsmaßstab

Matlab/SPM and data processing skills are an advantage (but not a necessity).

Prüfungsstoff

Will be discussed in course.
